How to Create a Peercoin Paper Wallet

Here’s the information on your paper wallet. Just like all the other wallet, a paper wallet will have a Public Key and a Private Key. If you want other users to send you Peercoins, you would give them your Peercoin Address. As for the Private key, this would be used to access your wallet through a “Live Wallet” like Peercoin-QT.

Now copy and paste both your addresses TO A DOCUMENT FOR SAFE KEEPING. This will help make sure you have correctly copied both addresses with no typos. It’s highly important to keep your Private Key in a secret place. DO NOT SHARE THE PRIVATE KEY WITH ANY OTHER PERSON.

Next, click > “Paper Wallet

Type in the number of Paper wallets you’ll like to generate in the “Addresses to generate” box then hit Generate.

Once the wallet is generated, hit the Print button.

Please be sure to keep your paper wallet in a safe and hidden place.

How to Add Funds to your Paper Wallet

To add funds to your wallet (or if someone wants to send coins to your address), make sure you write down/copy and paste the address where it says PUBLIC ADDRESS, double check if the address is correct. You will use the Peercoin Address to receive coins.

How to Track your Peercoin Transactions

To keep track of transactions visit type the address that’s on the paper wallet and click on the search icon.


Now that we have created a paper wallet, now let’s set up a “Live Wallet” on Peercoin-QT.

Visit their official website then click “Wallet”

Click on Download Peercoin-QT

Click on the button where it says DOWNLOAD. Once its download right click on the zip file and click Extract To.

Once it’s downloaded, right click on the zip file and click Extract To.

If you have a 32-bit version of Windows, click on the 32 folder and run the peercoin-0.6.0-setup.exe application. Or if you have 64-bit version of Windows go to 64 folder and run the peercoin-0.6.0-setup.exe application.

After selecting Peercoin-0.6.0-setup.exe, go through the Peercoin Setup Wizard. Follow the steps below.

After running the application a firewall window will pop up, make sure you click Allow access so the nodes can start working on syncing the wallet.

Wait for the wallet to finish syncing.


How to Withdraw Funds from your Paper Wallet

To withdraw funds from your wallet, you should expect to withdraw the entire balance of the wallet by importing it (or “sweeping” it) to a live wallet, e.g. a Peercoin wallet application or online services like or In order to do that you would need to use your Private key that is printed on the paper wallet on the back side of it.

Before importing our private key make sure that the wallet is unlocked.

To do that go to Settings > Unlock wallet for minting only.

Once we are done with that click on Help > Debug window 

Click > Console

Type in the console “importprivkey” [Private Key Number] (Like the example below)

Press the enter button when you are ready.

If you have received this note,

“Wallet is unlocked for minting only. (Code -102)”

You will need to type in these two commands. You will be using the passphrase that you created when you encrypted the wallet. If you are unsure if you have encrypted your wallet, Click here to learn how to setup a Peercoin-QT Desktop Wallet.

” walletpassphrase [Your Passphrase] 9999 false

After entering that command in the Debug window, you will need to import your private key.

” importprivkey” [Your Private Key Number]

You will notice that the wallet will freeze, don’t click anything wait a few moments until it imports the private key. Once the process is done click on the Address tab and in there you will notice that the paper wallet address pop up.

How to send Peercoins

To send coins click on Send tab.

Pay to: Type the Peercoin address that you are sending coins to.

Label: (Optional) Use this to label each transaction. For example, if I want to send coins to my friend I write into the label box “friend” and after I click send, that address will automatically save into my address book and I can use it for future payments.

Amount: type the number of coins you want to send then click at the end

Before sending make sure you double-confirm if the address is correct because if you send coins to a wrong address there’s no way of chargebacks!

When you are ready to send, click > Send (bottom right)

How to Recieve Peercoins

To receive coins click on Receive tab

Right-click on the public address then click Copy Address or click on the address until it highlighted in green, click on the Copy Address on the bottom and send it to the person that wants to send you coins.

If you want you can also generate a new address by pressing the New Address button.

You can also “Label” each Public Address. For example, the first one says (no label) and the newly generated address we labeled “Public Address 2”. This will help keep track of each Peercoin Addresses.

How to Backup Peercoin Wallet

To backup your wallet, Click File > Backup Wallet

Keep in mind, after each update on the balance of our wallet, we need to do a backup. Make sure to keep the wallet.dat (backup) of the wallet somewhere safe.

Next, find a safe place to back up your wallet.

You will also need to name your backup file.

When you are ready to save, Click > Save.
